FavoriteFilm
Franco Zefferelli's version of Hamlet was my favorite out of the three movies. The actors, the time period, and the gloominess of the movie are almost the same as I pictured they would be while reading Hamlet from the book. Mel Gidson played a wonderful Hamlet and I loved how he acted out the emotions during his soliloquy. Because it was so dark and dreary, it matched Hamlet's emotions and made the viewers share those emotions with him. I also feel that the actor who played Claudius did a great job because he was very quiet, dark, and mysterious. The camera angles and close ups on the actors faces really focused on their emotions and I feel that the other movies lacked this. All of these factors helped me decide that this version is the best of the three.
